Why Are Coast Wells Different?
Along the central Oregon coast, most wells draw from low-permeability rock that yields small quantities — many coastal wells produce under 5 gallons per minute, and some formations produce no usable groundwater at all. The most productive wells tap marine-terrace sand or the Siletz River Volcanics. What this means for you: low yield is normal here, and the right answer is often a storage system or scheduled water delivery, not a bigger pump fighting a slow well.
